Byron Cooper

Byron Cooper litigates patent cases before federal district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission, and counsels clients regarding patent prosecution and reexaminations, trade secrets, and infringement and the validity of patents. He has participated in appeals to the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court.

Professional Background

Byron Cooper has served as a patent litigation partner in several large law firms and was co-leader of the litigation practice group at one firm, where he litigated patent cases for nearly twelve years. Before practicing law Byron Cooper taught computer hardware and software courses as an adjunct professor at satellite campuses of the University of Maryland and was an infantry officer in the U.S. Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986.

He has practiced law as an equity partner at several large firms, and represented individual inventors, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and companies of every size all the way up to the largest technology companies in the world. He has settled many cases at a very early stage and litigated cases through appeal to the US Supreme Court.
